Califon, NJ— The campaign of Patricia Campos-Medina issued a statement today, mourning the passing of Congressman Donald Payne Jr.:

“We extend our deepest sympathies to the family, colleagues, and constituents of Congressman Donald Payne Jr., a stalwart leader in the United States and a beacon of civil rights activism with whom I had the honor of collaborating in the pursuit of workers’ rights,” expressed U.S. Senate candidate Patricia Campos-Medina. “Our hearts go out to the entire City of Newark during this somber period. While he may no longer be with us, his enduring legacy of advocacy and commitment will continue to inspire and uplift generations to come.”

Donald Payne Jr. was an American politician who served as the U.S. Representative for New Jersey’s 10th congressional district from 2012 until his passing in 2024. He succeeded his father, Donald Payne Sr., who had represented the same district from 1989 until he died in 2012. Donald Payne Jr. was a member of the Democratic Party and was known for his advocacy on issues such as education, healthcare, and civil rights. He also served as Chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation. Payne was deeply involved in his community and was a respected leader in both local and national politics.


Dr. Patricia Campos-Medina, a nationally recognized labor leader and community organizer, brings a wealth of experience and a proven record of expertise to her candidacy for the United States Senate.
